Materials: China Hutch, wood, drawer hardware, 'Shaker Blue' paint, linen, lavender.
From a poem by Colette Wartz as found in 'the Poetics of Space':
Orderliness. Harmony. Piles of sheets in the wardrobe. Lavender in the linen.
The question I asked myself was if it was reasonable to consider furniture as an intimate framework which serves as a model for one's own intimate behavior? In an effort to measure this possible quality, I rescued an old china hutch fully intent on changing it's intended function and therefore, our engagement with it. Having never personally known the practice of placing lavender among the linens, I endeavored to refresh this old habit while simultaneously rebuilding a new use for this old container.
